StaarCon 6 New Ticket Pricing

Virtual access is now sold separately from in-person admission.

What is changing

We have separated StaarCon 6 admission from StaarCast virtual access. In the past, we have combined these into a single ticket price, with no option for those who do not need virtual access.

Now, StaarCon offers an in-person-only option, without virtual access. You can still purchase the combined ticket and just the virtual access ticket.

StaarCast virtual access

StaarCast virtual access is sold separately from conference admission and can be combined with a ticket purchase.

Pricing is published at staarcast.com. An annual membership is $99.95 and includes a full year of StaarCast events, plus all premium StaarCon 6 events. Single-day and weekend options are also available.

Why we are making this change

Florida taxes virtual and streaming services differently than it taxes event admission. Florida sales tax applies to admission to an in-person event. Access to recordings and online meetings is subject to a separate Florida tax: the communications services tax.

Because these are two different taxes, Florida requires us to state the charge for virtual access separately from the charge for admission. Selling them as separate items lets us apply the correct tax to each. It also means attendees who only want to attend in person don’t pay for virtual access they don’t need.

What this means for you

Your service address matters. The Florida communications services tax applies based on where you live, not where the conference is held. Attendees outside Florida are not subject to it, so please make sure the address you enter at checkout is up to date if you purchase virtual access.

If you have already purchased a ticket

Your ticket is valid, and your admission is unchanged. You don’t need to do anything. If you already purchased the in-person ticket and want to add virtual access, let us know. You will pay only the combined ticket price.
